What's a Girl to Do??

Before anyone goes out thinking that we have protection...forget it! As some may know, I put a stop payment on three out of six or seven checks that I had given a local screenprinter. The fact is, speaking to him engaged me in a verbally abusive situation and these shirts were simply third rate.
I then sent him a registered letter stating why I had done this and offering him the shirts. According to my attorney ($200.00 per hour!), I did not break the law. According to the East Providence, RI police detective (BTW- a friend of the abusers) ....I am to be arrested for bank fraud.
Stop payments are not for shabby, third rate goods...they are for when you lose your checkbook.
So, here I sit, fighting Bushco, fighting the death of ROE v WADE, dealing with menopause, raising my granddaughter and now this.
As a small business, what are my rights? Who protects me? Can a 'friend of a cop'have that much pull that two lives can be wrenched so traumaticaly?
I have spoken to the State Police...."....you btroke the law, if there's a summons, that means a judge agrees."
I have spoken to the Attorney Generals office..."...you might want to call the State Police..."
I have spoken to business regulation...." I have no idea why you are caling here."
I have spoken to the bank...."I thought a stop payment could be used exactly as you used it."
The bottom line doesn't look good.
I may lose everything.
My attorney has told me that even if I pay the $1650.00 that I put the stop payment on (they still received payment of $2800.00 for shirts I can't sell)...I may still get arrested. Then, I'll need a criminal attorney.....which I cannot afford.
I wonder what the point is.
If I were a male, would this be happening?
If I were not a feminist, would this be happening?
If I were selling flowered hats and t-shirts with kittens & yarn, would this be happening?
I am weary. I am sick to death of 'dicks' like the one here in East Providence.
I understand why people take the law into their own hands. Sometimes, in the battle of day to day living, a girl just wants a little justice.
My attorney related an interesting fact. A couple of years ago, a client gave hime a check for over $5000.00. It bounced. He spoke to the North Kingston police, they said it was a civil matter. He spoke to the State Police, they said it was a civil matter. Of course, I understand that....cops really don't like attorneys...despite what Law & Order portrays.
I think it's sad that this is happening. Think about it....
